Frowning Upon Religious Extremist
I may not be religious, but I believe that religion is a good thing.
Its the people IN the religion that makes atheists and non-believers a reason to create controversies over their actions.
Some of them do things that are illogical, stupid, selfish and arrogant. And yet they claim their doings are all in the name of god. Isn’t that like, blaming the Beethoven for writing a crappy piece when you received criticism on your playing?
I may not be a religion scholar, nor do I research much about every major religion in the world, but I do know that an legitimate religion do not teach people to wage war, to kill, or to inflict pain on others – be it physically or mentally. If love is too much to give, there is still tolerance and forgiveness laid in the base of every major religion in the world.
I do not expect everyone to be god-like. But please…please don’t do more to pull me further and further away from believing that god do exist. Even if you have the ancient text penned by God himself, it doesn’t suffice to do what he writes. You’ll still need to think and apply.
Because religion is like classical music. The music you produce differs by how you interpret the piece and how much you understand what does the composer thinks or wants.

yea… i totally agree. once upon a time, i use to go to the temple alot. at least once a week. it was an eye opening experience knowing that these high and mighty practitioners act nothing to what the Buddha has taught us. Nothing. I got so sick at one point that I told my mum, “you seriously want me to believe that “these people” are the so-called role model in praying and chanting and all those stuff? they can’t even stick by simple teachings taught by the Buddha!”
I see religion as a teaching of a philosophy class, and it doesn’t differ much from one religion to another. Ultimately it is all about doing good. I wouldn’t say I’m a religious person either, but I must admit I’ve read quite a number of Buddhism books way back when. Like I say, it’s a teaching of philosophy and doing good.
Oh well.

Have you met with someone that tells you that if you do not join their religion, you’ll end up in hell?
I felt like telling them “people who wished for others to go to hell shall not attain enlightenment, true happiness shall be unknown to them. Why one wants to go to heaven? To be happy right? You take your time to ponder on this instead of wasting your time finding ways to threaten me so that I’ll join your religion out of fear”

I agree with you. I, myself am a Christian, not a religious one either. I used to think Christians are good people. NOT until I got to know them. Christianity is good. The people is not overall good.
All religions teach their followers to be good people. But instead the followers are so obsess with their believing that they scare people away.
I had these two visitors, from some unknown Christian church telling me that every family need to have a father n a mother to have a child. To cut the long story short, they said that the mother of Jesus had come in the form of human and told me to go to their church to see her bcause she’s attending their church it seems.
(o.O) *very much amazed with their statements*

self contradiction shall be one’s downfall, if they decided to neglect the one important thing God gave them – their brain.
